1624 is a public performance sponsored by Replay!

The performance consists in recreating the friendly soccer match between France and Germany played in Paris’ Stade De France the night of the Bataclan’s terrorist attack on the 13th of November, 2015. The match will last 16 minutes and 24 seconds, just like the original one, ending in the exact moment when the first terrorist decided to commit suicide outside of the stadium.

Amateur football players will have a chance to audition for the role of France’s and Germany’s first-string players and they will be selected basing on their ability to copy their movements.

Once the 22 first-string players and the two coaches will be selected, there will be a rehearsal period until all of the players will be able to remake the match as close as possible to the original one.

During the performance there will be TV cameras and a group of professional sport photographers. The audience in the stadium will be composed by the player’s relatives and a man impersonating the president Hollande.  The match will be broadcasted live in a bar, in front of a crew.

This project reflects on the soccer match itself as a control device. Once the first explosion went off, the show kept going on. Was it a firework as the TV speaker said? Would the players have continued playing if they had known the truth?
